Managing congenitally missing teeth, particularly lateral incisors and canines, is a complex challenge that requires long-term planning and close collaboration across specialties.

In this joint session, Dr Kamel Saeed and Dr Nu Dastaran will review treatment pathways from primary through to permanent dentition, including the orthodontic considerations of space management and the surgical realities of implant replacement.

They will share case insights on the impact of missing teeth on jaw structure and bite, and demonstrate how a multidisciplinary approach between orthodontists, restorative dentists, and surgeons can deliver functional, aesthetic, and durable results.

Dr Kamel Saeed is a specialist orthodontist with MOG Orthodontics. After completing his specialist training at the University of Western Australia, he has focused his practice on managing complex orthodontic cases, with particular expertise in multidisciplinary care.

Dr Saeed values close collaboration with referring dentists to achieve optimal functional and aesthetic outcomes for patients.

Dr Mehrnoosh (Nu) Dastaran is a leading Specialist Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon based in Melbourne’s west and north-west.

She specialises in wisdom teeth removal, dental implants, corrective jaw surgery, facial trauma, TMJ disorders and sleep apnoea surgery.

Victorian-trained, she graduated top of her class in Medicine (Bristol) and Dentistry (King’s College London), and undertook fellowships in craniofacial trauma and reconstruction in Melbourne and London.

Alongside her surgical practice, Dr Dastaran teaches at the University of Melbourne and Charles Sturt University and serves as Secretary of the Victorian branch of ANZAOMS.

Known for her collaborative approach, she works closely with dentists and orthodontists to deliver tailored, evidence-based care with natural and functional results.

Serving patients in the Melbourne, greater Melbourne and Geelong regions, Dr Dastaran practices at The Royal Melbourne Hospital, and University Hospital Geelong, and private clinics in Melbourne, including, MOG in Keilor.
