Hmmm….well it only took about a week and my tongue did in fact get used to the buttons rubbing on it ceaselessly…go figure!
I stopped poking continuously at the elastics with the tip of my tongue, which was nice too, (the novelty just wore off).
My teeth adjusted to the extra pressures of the wire and buttons and they are not sore either.
So I can eat and brush with ease again…isn’t the human body’s ability to adapt amazing!
The only side issue is that foods that are ‘stringy’ tend to get stuck around the buttons. For example nectarine pulp, bean shoots, ham, orange pulp…a quick brush seems the only way to dislodge the offender, as no amount of ‘slurping’ on the area seems to help! Plus I think when I do that I pull a really weird face and make horrible noises that is a bit off-putting in company!
Note to self…always try and carry a travel toothbrush because it is so annoying having this thing floating around in your mouth when you are trying to talk. Why does everything seem so enormous in there? Those buttons are tiny yet they seem to take up half my mouth, and lodged bits of food feel like a whole bread roll is wedged onto the wire! Simply a matter of perspective I guess.
