Part of the problem of misaligned teeth is that they can be more vulnerable to knocks and chipping. That is exactly what happened with my front teeth that crossed over – the tooth that angled in had a vulnerable edge that the years have not been kind to.
With the repositioning to sit nicely beside its partner it became apparent that some reshaping was needed. Oh, that’s OK I’m an old hand at that now.
So without the slightest hint of anxiety the drill bit was called for, my tooth was gently molded to match its shapelier partner and I didn’t even need to pre-arrange a panic signal!
Everybody was so proud!
One of my lower teeth needed to have the bracket removed and repositioned in order to move it that extra little bit in the right direction. I got a taste of what braces removal would be like – a little click with a plier like tool, scrubbing with a burr to remove the old adhesive – and in this case priming and regluing a new bracket in place. Another new wire and a promise that I am neeeeeearly there…
Over the next few days the tooth that had been rebonded was a little sensitive to pressure again as it is gently encouraged to take it’s new position in line. However a week later it’s all good and I play the waiting game, but this time even I can see how that tooth has moved in a week, and my teeth feel like they are fitting together so nicely…even I think we might be close!
