It’s been a hard day’s night
I have known for a long time that I clench my jaw when I am a bit on edge and that I do tend to do this in my sleep – but if ever I needed proof this is it!
A couple of times in the past month I have woken with my teeth feeling that just adjusted kind of bruised soreness. The kind that when you eat your toast makes you wish you cooked porridge instead! Luckily it lasts for the day, and seems to settle down again overnight – but I do have quite a restless sleep – probably because I keep waking myself up when I start clenching again!
I am also much more aware of when I do this during the day too, so this could be a great way to make me take stock and chill out a bit!
Movement at the station
Something that I find so interesting, is that even when things don’t look all that different, there is obviously quite a bit of activity going on there.
When I slide my teeth together they no longer fit the way they used to, and I can no longer find any easy way to make my lower teeth push on the back of my upper teeth at the front as they used to, the gap between my upper and lower teeth seem to be larger.
I have trouble biting into things and find that I tear them more, partly because of the braces and the extra care taken not to bend the wires or dislodge the brackets, and partly because my front teeth don’t hit together properly without pulling my jaw too far forward.
Nothing that anybody else would even notice it is so subtle, but all part of the realignment process…slowly steadily slowly.
