Tell me about the different types of braces

There are many different types of braces, ranging from the traditional metal braces that most of us are familiar with, to almost invisible clear braces. Let’s take a look at some of the more common braces in use today.

Self-ligating braces

Self-ligation might sound like something a lawyer would dream up, but it’s actually an innovative new technology that can reduce the time you need to wear braces. It uses a high-tech wire system that is more comfortable than traditional braces and usually requires fewer adjustments, so you won’t need to visit us as often during treatment.

Clear Braces

Clear braces are an option for adult treatment, as the brackets are made from clear material. They’re so subtle that your friends may not even notice you’re undergoing treatment.

Invisalign

Invisalign uses clear removable tooth-aligners that gradually move your teeth without braces.

Removable appliances

Removable appliances are plastic plates that can be used to correct tooth position. They are not suitable for everyone and, in most cases are used for the correction of simple problems.

But wait, there’s more

You could be here for hours reading about different types of orthodontic appliances. Many treatments are quite complex and are better explained in person. Rather than going into too much detail here, we recommend you arrange a consultation. Over a coffee we’ll take the time to explain everything you need to know about orthodontics.

Make your free consultation appointment now, it’s the only way to get all your questions answered.
