How am I going to keep my teeth clean?

Well, it will take a bit more time of course. There are a few stages to brushing now you have braces – first brush above the brackets close to the gums, then angle your brush into each space between the teeth and wires to dislodge any straggling bits of food, then brush below the brackets. Finally the chewing surfaces of your teeth and don’t forget to brush behind too!

Yes it will take around 3-4 minutes to brush properly, but it is worth it to protect your teeth from decay.  Unfortunately, all that extra hardware in your mouth does provide a good hiding place for plaque build up.  So do take the time to really clean properly.
